"Warm Afternoon" Abstract Acrylic, 30" x 48" Available. Learn how to paint this painting in my online class. Today I want to share a pretty simple tip about how you can engage your fans on social media. It is simple. Just use a "call to action". A social media "call to action" is often an overlooked element of an effective social media campaign. Social media sites (such as Facebook and Instagram) get prospects, customers and the public primed to want to find out more about your art or to engage with you further. However, you always need to remember to lead them to the next step in your sales process.
Regardless of the platform - blog, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. - posts will receive better success rates if they contain calls to action, compared to ones without them. So all the more reason to use them! On Facebook, posts that include calls to action "to share" one of your posts receive more shares, likes and comments. So head on over to one of your sites (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and write a post. But this time include a call to action. Ask them to "share your post" or "leave a comment". Or, ask a question to all of your readers as to what they think you should paint tomorrow. Sometimes just the act of inviting someone to share your post will be the encouragement your fan needs to take your suggestion. Once they share the post, it will travel on further to their colleagues, friends, and family, thus expanding your reach. This is truly one of the great benefits of social media!

I have been wondering how to and what to do that.. silly me just ask people to share or leave a comment.... the one thingi I've considered to doing is asking people to sign up and putting in a sign up button ... I'm assuming it's a sign up for email list which I haven't created yet. So create the email first then put up the button? which is the better way to go?

You need to sign up with mailchimp. They will show you how to create the sign up form and then you can just put it on your website and/or blog. Then you can start sending out a monthly email list to your subscribers.

I don't always ask for comments or sharing however Alice, when I do, I get results - sharing and comments, and even more friend requests, on Facebook that is. As for signing up for an email list, some folks are skeptical thinking they will get spam and flooded with emails they don't want. Have you don this yet? I would love some pointers on how to go about it. Are you on twitter or Instagram?

I have two email signups that I use. One for my monthly newsletter and one for my blog. Both have worked great for me!
