I have become a bit obsessed with fonts lately. I keep adding them to my computer from free sites such as dafont and fontspace. The fonts are free on those sites. (You know how much I love free stuff.)
Then I added a google extension to Chrome that lets me hover over a font on a webpage and it tells me the name of the font! It's called WhatFont and it's also free. The one thing it can't do is identify a font in a photo. (If anyone knows how to do that please let me know!) So get ready to start seeing some fun new fonts on my website. Oh wait. I just need to watch and then implement the video tutorial I found on how to add fonts to the weebly website ...

I have the same addiction (in addition to my podcast addiction, which you helped start.)

Leslie, your posts are generally so helpful . I love them and really appreciate what you do . But I do want to say, the last post about pop-ups I completely disagree with . And I couldn't even comment because of the pop up ! I think they are way too obnoxious and annoying to use. They feel manipulative , and personally I'm turned off to the point of leaving a site that has pop-ups and never going back!

I think www.whatfontis.com will tell you the font off a photo. You can upload the photo and it's suppose to identify the font. I haven't tried it but thought I'd share.

Hey Lesley, In answer to your question, there is an app called 'What the Font' haha that you can put a photo in and it will tell you what the font is or the closest match. I am a signwriter and use it all the time.

Thanks for the tips Leslie. Try the iOS app What the Font. You can take or upload a photo of anything with a font and it'll identify it and/or give you suggestions to fonts close to it. I use it on magazines, books, cute invitations or stationary, or take screen shots of webpages or online photos, to find out what the font is. Hope that helps.
