Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge
SEPTEMBER 2018

Picture
Join me and hundreds of other artists as we paint every day during the month of September 2018.
I am hosting the 30 in 30 from September 1 - September 30, 2018. I hope you will join me.
Sign up for the September 30 in 30 here

Beginning September 1, 2018 you should upload a photo of your daily painting on the page called September 2018 30 in 30 Paintings. This page is located on this site and can be found in the box above and in the menu at the top of this website.

I am so glad you are joining the Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge.
This is the tenth Thirty Painting in Thirty Days Challenge I have hosted. In February of 2018 over 800 artists participated in the challenge. Our next challenge starts on September 1, 2018! Our goal is to paint 30 paintings in 30 days. We will have fun and the goal is to complete 30 new paintings during the month. But please remember it's ok to miss a few. Nobody will know but you. In fact nobody will care but you! Life gets in the way sometimes and if that happens, don't sweat it. The only "rule" is to have fun! That's it!

So why should you join this challenge? The challenge is not about finishing 30 gallery quality "perfect" paintings. It's about getting in to the studio to try new things. It's about painting more often. It's about having fun and developing new habits! This challenge has changed the lives of many artists and I hope you you will experience the same! It's important to remember you are not doing this challenge alone. We had over 800 artists (in 38 countries) commit to painting every day in February. Who knows how many we will have in January? So let's share and support each other.

So you want to participate in the Challenge, what do you need to do?
Please read all of these instructions. It will be hard for me to respond to your email questions with so many artists participating in the challenge! Remember, I am painting 30 paintings too!
1. First off you need to know there are no rules. There is no such thing as cheating. So, if you want to paint seven paintings in a day and take the rest of the week off then that's ok! If you want to get an early start in January then that's ok too. Just don't post an old painting as the whole point of the challenge is to get you to paint more!
2. You might want to pick a theme for the Challenge. It will make it easier for you to stay on track and think of inspirations to paint. My first theme was "My Favorite Things". My theme for the last Challenge was "Thirty Abstract Paintings inspired by Project Runway Designs". This time I am still trying to come up with a theme that's as good as my last one!
3. Next, you need to sign up for the Challenge. Follow the blue link above that says SIGN UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. Once you sign up you will be added to the map that is shown above and on the Artists Helping Artists blog. Please note, I have to refresh the map so there is a delay as to when you will appear on the map. There is no need to email me! If you click on the icons, you will see the artists name and website. You can use this map to find other artists that are located near you and are participating in the Challenge! And, if you don't want to put your personal address on the map, just list an address from your town such as city hall or the public library! Or you can just enter your city and state.
4. On September 1st (or earlier!) you should paint your first painting. When you are done please photograph it and then upload the photo to my blog which is listed on the menu at the top of this page. You can upload your painting beginning September 1st. Be sure and upload the painting on the correct day (so on Day One, September 1st, upload your 1st painting). You have 48 hours to upload your painting each day as after that the uploader will close. If you miss a day do not worry! And please use a computer to upload your painting. You may have problems using a cell phone or iPad.
5. Please note - Here is a short video to show you how to upload your painting.
6. If the challenge has already started and you want to join in, then that's fine! Just start painting and posting your painting.
7. On the last day of the challenge I will show you how to create a collage of all of your paintings. You can post your collage to the blog as well.
8. If the challenge has already started and you want to join in, then that's fine! Just start painting and posting your painting.
How to Post Your Paintings on My Blog
I get a lot of questions about posting your daily paintings on my blog. First off you need to go to the 30 in 30 blog on this site which is where you will upload your painting everyday. The blog link is at the top of this page. Click on the "30 in 30" tab at the top of this page and then click on the drop down menu that says "30 in 30 blog".

The process to upload your painting is pretty simple as every day at midnight I will add a blog post for the next day of the challenge. September 1st is "Day 1". September 2nd is "Day 2".
Please use a computer to upload your painting. You may have problems using a cell phone or iPad. There is a place on each post on my blog for you to click where you need to upload a photo of your completed painting. It is a blue box titled "Add Your Link" and can be seen in the photo to the right. It is located just below all of the photos the other artists have entered that day on my blog. You actually have 48 hours (or until midnight of the following day) to upload your link. See Photo #1.

You can upload your painting at anytime that day. All you need is a photo of your painting. If you add a link to the page on your blog or website where the painting is listed for sale first then the inlinkz program will automatically search the link for your photo. If you see it then just select it. If you don't see it then go to the space below where you can upload the photo. Once you upload the photo be sure to click on it so it appears in the "thumbnail box". See photo #2.

Please note, you do not need a blog or website to upload your photo. If you don't have a blog or website then just leave the field blank that asks for a link to the web address of your blog. That's it. It's simple! Also, after you upload your photo a "small trash can" will appear just below your photo. This allows you to delete your post if you want to re-do it. Please note, no one else will see this trash can.

If you are having a problem uploading your photo, here is a video that shows you how to upload a photo on inlinkz. By uploading a photo of your painting and adding a link there is a very good chance a lot of people will see your art! If your photo is too large then the uploader may ask you to resize your photo. If you have a Mac, then go to this link to see how to resize. If you have a PC, try this link.

I also encourage you to post your painting to your own blog and to Facebook. People will get excited about an artist painting 30 paintings for 30 days in a row. So don't be shy to let everyone know that you are doing this Challenge! And use the hashtag #30paintingsin30days!
