"I love painting abstracts! For years I painted oils with a palette knife but recently I started painting abstracts with acrylics. I am crazy about color and my favorite part of painting abstracts is deciding on the color palette! I love opening the door to my Carriage House Studio (which turned 100 years old last spring) with no expectations of what the painting will look like. I believe that the creation of each of my paintings comes from within and is influenced by my happiness and enjoyment of painting bright colors with a palette knife.
My paintings are inspired by the colors found at the beaches in Ventura, California and at home in South Pasadena. My husband and I purchased a beach house in Ventura a few years ago and it's my favorite place to spend weekends and paint! Of course, some of my "weekends" start on Tuesday! I just love the warm sand tones, cool ocean blues/greens and the warm reds and oranges in the sunsets. I also love the beautiful green trees, sunset skies and gorgeous sun reflections on the foothills of Pasadena. All of these colors can be found in my abstract paintings.
When Leslie isn't in her studio painting, she is devoted to helping other artists sell their art, especially on-line. She hosts a weekly talk radio show titled “Artists Helping Artists” which is currently listened to by over 20,000 artists per week. Leslie's show began it's seventh year in April of 2016.
Leslie also hosts a twice yearly painting challenge titled "Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days". Each January and September over 1500 artists from all over the world join Leslie in painting thirty paintings in thirty days. The "challenge" was created by Leslie to inspire artists to paint and has only one rule. The rule is to "have fun"!
