May 16 - 19, 2016 Painting Light and Color Four Day Palette Knife Painting Workshop
Ventura, CA
May 16 - 18, 2016 ($499.00 for the workshop and $400 for four nights lodging)
Located at our Beach House in Ventura, Ca
9:00 am - 4:00 pm class hours and fun the rest of the time!
Dates for sleeping at the Beach House are the nights of May 15, 16, 17 and 18. Check in time is 4:00 pm and check out time is after the completion of the workshop on the 19th.
Join me for a “Paint Together and Stay Together” workshop at our beach house in Ventura, CA. Four students can stay at the beach house (and yes, you get your own bed!) and an additional six can attend the workshop who don’t need accommodations. We’ll paint during the day (in studio and plein air) and then cook an incredible meal and talk about our lives, art and who knows what else! In four days you will rediscover your passion for art, learn the basics pertaining to values and colors and master the techniques of painting with a palette knife. Plus we’ll have lots of chances to get to know each other, share ideas and get all of those questions about art answered!
Our first day starts off with a unique painting demo in which I demonstrate the basic approach to painting with a palette knife. This demo helps students understand the basic approach and guides them to success using a simple step by step approach. We will focus on color mixing and understanding values.
On the second day we will all paint together and head out to paint plein air. We can head to the marina and paint the awesome boats, paint on Main Street or paint the Ventura coastline. Each day we will focus on using the palette knife to create visual interest and highlighting the focal point in your paintings.
The third day will start out with a “field trip” to the Ventura antique flea market. This is a great chance to explore (and look for great still life objects to paint) and enjoy some of the Ventura local fun. At 10:00 am we will all head out to paint and you will spend the day painting a palette knife painting (using the beautiful Ventura Beach scenery) with one on one instruction at your easel.
The last day will be spent painting your own palette knife painting (using the beautiful Ventura Beach scenery) with one on one instruction at your easel.
We will also spend talking about marketing. As part of the workshop, we discuss on-line marketing tips and advice when it comes to selling your art.
Cost is $499.00 plus $400 for accommodations (four nights). Two home-cooked gourmet dinners (by yours truly) and breakfasts are included.
Class is limited to 4 students staying at the house with an additional six attending the workshop (without accommodations).
A workshop supply list will be sent once registered.
