Building Your Pages

I hope by now you have had a chance to create your Home Page in weebly. From here on I suggest you watch the videos, pause them and then repeat the same steps to create your own website. It is not difficult to do. Remember, your website doesn't have to be perfect the first time. But if you take the time to learn this program, this tool can be helpful in so many ways to an artist!

Hopefully you have taken my advice and not  purchased a permanent domain name. Just keep the one assigned to you by weebly for now.

Let's review. In the image below You need to remember the key components to a successful website.

Now it's time for you to continue building your site. You will want to add more pages. The pages on my website at saetastudio.com include: Home, Abstract Paintings, Oil Paintings, Blog, Look Book, Workshops, About Me, Artists Helping Artists, How to Buy a Painting, Online Classes, Marketing Consultations, 30 in 30, Buy Prints, Merchandise, webinARTs and Marketing Boot Camp.

Go to the internet and visit some of your favorite artist's websites to see what pages they have on their website. Start a list of the pages you want on your website. Just remember to always keep your site simple, visual and easy to navigate. And have fun with it!

The most important page we will create is the page that is your store. This page will feature all of your paintings. It doesn't matter if you have two or 100, you just need a place to share and sell your art. You can title your store page anything you want as I have seen names such as: Paintings, Works, Available Paintings, Gallery, Artwork, etc. This, of course, is up to you.

In this course I am going to create the following pages on our website:
  • Home
  • Paintings
  • Blog
  • About Me
  • Workshops
  • How to Buy a Painting
  • Events
Watch this video below as I create the rest of your pages for the site. We will add the basic elements to these pages and then add the actual content to these pages later.
If you already have a weebly website then it's time for a tune up. There are two free services you can use to check your site for broken links and misspelled words. Both of them are automated and easy.

Make it a habit to use these tools every month.
Link to the broken link check.
Link to the website spell checker. (I just did this and yes, I found 37 spelling errors on my website!)
