Time to Check Out Sideline

I have a new favorite app. I know I say this every month. But it's true. And this one is awesome.

A lot of artists don't have a separate phone line for their art business. For many it's too expensive and not practical. But having a published phone number for potential collectors or workshop students is something every artist needs.

I have, on occasion, given out my cell phone number. But in a perfect world it would be great to have a cell phone number for just my business.

I have one now. And it's free.

There is an app called sideline. It's wonderful and you just download it to your iphone. (I know it works for iPhone and Android but I haven't checked for other phones) If you have unlimited calls and texting with your mobile carrier then there are no costs to add the line. Of course I need to add a claim here that I am not an expert so you need to check with your own mobile carrier to make sure there are no hidden costs.

You start out by entering your area code and you get to pick a number from about 10 suggestions. Some area codes aren't available (including mine) which is no big deal. Just pick one of the options and set it up on your phone. Now when my cell phone rings it will say "sideline call" so I will know it's a business call. You can also record a different greeting for your new business line.

I am so thrilled to have my own free business line on my cell phone.

You need to use your phone at least once every 30 days to continue to reserve your line. Otherwise you can spend $2.99 a month to save your phone number. The small fee also removes the ads you will see on your phone when you use the sideline app. The extra line is practically free. About ten cents a day. Totally worth it.

Curious what made you choose Sideline over Google Voice. Has all the features you mentioned, plus some others like voice message to text transcription, also free, no ads, no need to use or reserve the line. why is Sideline a better choice?

Google Voice is great too. I just like how Sideline works better. That's all!
