News flash ...

Join me this Sunday, March 13, at 8:00am PST
for my first Facebook Live "Morning Coffee with Leslie" broadcast.

I am taking you all on a hunt for seaglass! Join me live on the beaches in Ventura, Ca. Many of you sent me emails with this idea so I thought, why not? Plus, I think you can help "with the hunt". Just leave a live comment when I walk right past a beautiful piece of sea glass ... and I am not kidding, it happens all of the time! I have lots of fun tips (like how not to end up in the ER when hunting for seaglass...) And just to clarify, you will be lucky one drinking coffee. Not me! I will be busy hunting and talking and holding my iphone and ...

New Topics for the Artists Helping Artists Show

I have only one recurring dream. Perhaps I should call it a nightmare. While it doesn't happen that often, it's basically the same dream. The dream always takes place on a Thursday morning. It takes place just minutes before the AHA show is supposed to air and I have no topic, no guest and no co-host. I call it the "AHA nightmare".

Many of you may not realize it takes a lot of preparation to host the Artists Helping Artists show every week. If it wasn't for my amazing co-hosts I don't think I would have been able to keep it up. In just a few months we will begin our sixth year of the show! And yet I still stress enough over the show to cause my recurring nightmare!

My biggest challenge is coming up with show topics for the show. I have finally created a way to keep track of show ideas from our listeners. I have a very simple form you can fill out that will be part of a database for show ideas. PLEASE take a moment to make a suggestion. All you have to do is think of any topic you would like to know more about!
Submit a Show Idea for the AHA Show
Please help. I would love your suggestions. You can also suggest a guest to be interviewed on the show. And if you are interested in being a guest host for the show you can indicate that too!

Thank you very much for your help!!!

Hi Leslie - I have been a long time listener/fan and love hearing the shows with various guest artists. I notice a lot of the guests you've interviewed are plein aire, oil and realistic style painters. Now that you're painting abstracts (beautiful ones I might add!) maybe you can interview some abstract artists? Have them talk about their journey into abstraction and their collectors, venues and marketing ideas?

I also think you and Carolyn Edlund of Artsy Shark/ABI (Arts Business Institute) might have a lot to talk about and can perhaps do a collaboration or an interview. Carolyn is an artist consultant; director of the Arts Business Institute where they train artists on the business of art; and she publishes a wonderful blog where she highlights artists from all over the world. She's on the East Coast and has been involved with artists for decades. Feel free to use my name with her - she's wonderful and easy to work with and she has a ton of info on her blogs (Artsy Shark & Arts Business Institute) that you might be able to use for your shows including an incredible list of artists she's interviewed from the past.

Maybe a show on the future of bricks & mortar galleries vs. on-line galleries? Open Studio Tours and pros/cons to participating in them? What to look for when you rent/lease art studio space (I might be able to help with this interview with my background in commercial real estate & leasing art studios personally) and how to deal with landlords/what to look for in a lease/etc.?

I know you do your shows "live" and wonder if there's a way to do a regular question & answer session with callers for a timely or particular subject? Or maybe they can email their suggestions/comments during a show and you can read them on the air? (I guess what I'm trying to say is do an interactive show with your listeners?)

Thank you for your valuable contribution to the artist community - you help so many of us by providing this information. I greatly appreciate it!! (BTW - I got the apron you sent and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!)

Thank you,
JJ
